At the South West AHSN, we work with our member organisations across our region to understand the health and care sector’s most pressing needs and issue challenges to find the solutions to them.
HEALTH EQUITY INNOVATION CHALLENGES
We will be shortly launching a new competition to select innovations that are seeking to address specific health equity gaps in the South West region identified through our regional programmes. This programme will include specific real-world evaluation support to help you to generate the evidence you need to bring your innovation to market. More information will be made available on this shortly.
In the meantime, we have launched two regional programmes focused on improving perinatal outcomes and children and young peoples mental health. We would welcome enquiries from innovators that are currently addressing the following key areas in relation to these areas.
By Perinatal we mean; Perinatal is the period of time when you become pregnant and up to a year after giving birth.
Barriers to health equity in perinatal potentially include limited access to services, and variances in quality in service provision. There are likely to be groups of patients who are particularly at risk of health inequity, especially when the services are under pressure. The systems challenges identified may result in further barriers or limited attention on these, more vulnerable groups, or the deployment of existing support and solutions is ineffective in meeting health equity challenges for specific groups.
