ImproveWell is a digital solution focused on Quality Improvement (QI) which empowers frontline staff to drive change. The ImproveWell solution is a multi-platform application available in iOS, Android and web.
There are three core feedback systems: colleagues can share theme-based improvement ideas; they can share how their day at work is going, helping organisations track workforce sentiment; and they can complete bespoke surveys. An intelligent data dashboard allows managers to interrogate real-time data, prioritise QI efforts, measure change and publish reports, completing the feedback loop.
By directly involving staff in QI processes, ImproveWell allows organisations to demonstrate their commitment to patients by harnessing innovation from their frontline staff to discover new ways to improve care. ImproveWell is a flexible solution that can support multi-organisation collaboration, whilst also empowering leaders to achieve local goals and objectives.
From the ward to the board, everyone can make suggestions to improve their workplace.
How did the Innovation Exchange help?
ImproveWell has worked with the South West AHSN Innovation Exchange to raise awareness across the region. In 2019, the AHSN published an independent evaluation of the use of ImproveWell at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. The report evidenced ImproveWell as an effective tool to empower staff to make positive changes that benefit staff morale, create resource efficiencies and improve patient safety and experience. 75% of staff using ImproveWell reported feeling able to improve their area of work compared to 53% scored by the Trust as a whole. 85% of users of ImproveWell felt it empowered them to implement ideas for change.
IMPACTS & OUTCOMES
The ImproveWell solution is now active in four primary care organisations and two trusts in the South West region, with further interest from commissioners and local authority groups. The AHSN is enabling the spread and adoption of innovation, making the tool available to everyone and accelerating improvement efforts throughout England.
